Description

The Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) is a studio-based degree program for aspiring professional artists, gallery staff and art teachers. Students undertaking the program enter into an individual learning plan tailored to expand and enhance their creative horizons. Students will explore expressive content and formal means within their own studio work, as well as developing a critical awareness of their relationship toward both contemporary and historical styles and issues. The course offers major studies in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and photo media. Besides core studio work, the Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) offers ancillary studies in critical analysis, art history and theory – including approaches to environmental arts – arts business, and exhibition & gallery practice. Final year students stage a professional exhibition with full support material. Graduates will be able to work as professional artists, gallery staff, or can go on to post-graduate studies to pursue careers in art teaching, curatorship or academia. This is a full-time three-year course with 27 hours of lecture, tutorial and workshop attendance a week.
